You need an ATEX vacuum cleaner whenever combustible dust is present in your process, or wherever part of your site is classified as a hazardous area under DSEAR. In those conditions a standard industrial vacuum isn't simply underpowered for the job — it can become the ignition source. An ATEX machine is built to take that risk out: antistatic, fully bonded construction, certified motors and contained dust handling, all rated to the zone it works in.
ATEX ratings describe the area a machine is certified for, and they vary across the range below: every model is certified for combustible-dust Zone 22 areas, and the FOX and PUMA machines also carry Zone 20 certification for the inside of the collection chamber. Your DSEAR risk assessment sets your zone — check it against each machine's certified rating, or tell us the classification and we'll specify one that matches.

ATEX dust zones describe how often a combustible dust cloud is present. Zone 20 is continuous or frequent — typically inside equipment, such as a collection chamber — while Zone 22 covers areas where a dust cloud is unlikely in normal operation and only briefly present if it occurs.
