The Challenge
Filament waste that can’t stop the line
A textile manufacturer needed to vacuum large, continuous quantities of polyethylene filament — a light, stringy residual waste that, left to accumulate, clogs the machinery and causes malfunctions and production slowdowns.
The catch: the collection could never interrupt the production cycle. Emptying a full container mid-run would mean stopping the line — exactly what the system had to avoid.
The Solution
Two separators that hand off to each other
Depureco designed a centralised system around a Puma 18 — a medium-to-high-power unit with a robust side-channel turbine delivering up to 1120 m³/h through 45,000 cm² of filtering surface. Feeding it are two pre-separators that work in alternation: while separator 1 vacuums, separator 2 discharges into a one-cubic-metre big-bag, then they swap.
The switch runs on a set interval — around ten minutes — with electronic level sensors triggering an early changeover if a separator fills sooner. Because one separator is always collecting while the other empties, the line never has to stop. Two gated safety cages, four status lights and a siren guard the discharge area: if a gate opens while the system is running, it shuts down immediately.
At a Glance
The system at a glance.
A centralised unit sized to recover filament waste around the clock.
Puma 18
12.5 kW · up to 1120 m³/h
Side-channel turbine, 45,000 cm² filtering surface.
Twin pre-separators
Alternating collection
One vacuums while the other empties — the line never stops.
Big-bag discharge
1 m³ per bag
High storage capacity; level sensors trigger early swaps.
The Result
A continuous, uninterrupted cycle
Filament waste is now collected continuously and disposed of in bulk big-bags, with no accumulation on the machinery and no stoppages to empty a container. The plant keeps running while the system quietly clears the waste in the background.
