Do I Need a Sweeper, a Scrubber or a Combination of Both?

Industrial Sweeper and Scrubber

Many of our first-time customers come to us aware only of the fact that they need a new cleaning solution for their facility. However, they aren’t sure precisely what type of machine they would most benefit from. Fortunately, the experts at Depureco are here to help.

Our reputation in supplying high-quality industrial cleaning machines precedes us, local facilities managers naturally turn to us when they need help. We’ve helped countless clients ascertain whether an industrial sweeper, scrubber or a combination of the two is going to be best-suited to their needs. With that in mind, we thought we would share some of that insight here in this post to help you determine which type of cleaning machine is best for you.

What’s the Difference between a Sweeper and Scrubber?

The difference between these two types of cleaning machines is relatively straightforward. A sweeper is essentially an industrial vacuum cleaner that will clear your floor of dust and debris. This is a particularly important cleaning machine for warehouses and manufacturing plants that produce a great deal of dust. Regular sweepers often just spread dust around, but an industrial sweeper will properly remove it from the facility.

Scrubbers, as the name suggests, rely on scrubbing pads to loosen grit and grime so that it can be removed from the floor. These operate in conjunction with water and cleaning chemicals that need to be periodically replenished. Operating a scrubber is a bit more labour-intensive, but this type of cleaning method is necessary for facilities involved in food manufacturing – or in plants where oil or grease is likely to get on the floor.

Both cleaning machines have their own advantages, but it’s fairly clear to see at this point that each performs its own specific task – and there isn’t a lot of overlap between them. With that in mind, some facilities might get away with using only a sweeper, but most are going to be better served by a combination of the two.

We Have a Comprehensive Range of Scrubbers and Sweepers in Stock

At Depureco, we have a wide range of sweepers and scrubbers in stock for you to choose from. These include walk-behind models and ride-on models. In addition to that, we also offer combination models for the ultimate in convenience and efficiency. These sweeper-scrubbers make short work of messy facilities – scrubbing down grime, removing dust and leaving your floors sparklingly clean.

We also have several different sizes of models available. The optimal size for you will depend on the size of your facility as well as how often it needs cleaning. If you’re not sure about size or whether you need a sweeper, a scrubber or a combination, feel free to contact us through the website or by calling 01952 588 881. We can arrange to conduct a no-obligation site survey and provide you with a quote on the best cleaning solution for your facility.

The vacuum cleaners used for industrial purposes will vary be different from regular vacuum cleaners used at home. Essentially, the process is the same: dirt is sucked from the floor surface into a chamber wherever the vacuum nozzle is placed. This means that dust and dirt can be removed instantly from an area to keep it clean. However, for industrial purposes, you’ll often need something bigger, more powerful, and more efficient than a standard vacuum cleaner.

High‐Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) Vacuum Cleaners

These vacuums differ from conventional vacuums in that they contain filters that can trap extremely small, micron-sized particles. This is going to be necessary in an industrial environment where cleanliness is essential. A HEPA vacuum is designed to trap 99.7% of all airborne particles that are larger than 0.3 microns. An average household vacuum cleaner does not pick up particles that are smaller than 50 microns, meaning that the smallest – and most easily spread – particles are being released back into the air, and will then eventually settle back onto the ground.

The Motor

Aside from the filter that is able to collect the dust, a HEPA vacuum should also contain a decent motor. These are the power source of your vacuum cleaner, and an under-powered vacuum will not be effective. A lesser quality vacuum will use flow-through motors, but a good quality electric vacuum cleaner should use a bypass motor. This means that the motor chamber will be isolated from the impeller chamber.

The impeller is the fan that creates the suction that the vacuum produces, and a flow-through motor uses airflow generated by the impeller to cool the motor. This means that any particles that escape the filter are blown into the motor chamber, which reduces the life of the motor. However, a decent high-efficiency vacuum should utilize a bypass motor so that the motor chamber uses clean air from the outside to keep it cool.

Pre-filtration

Aside from the main filter, for the most effective vacuum cleaner, there should be multiple layers of prefiltration that remove as much contaminant as possible before they reach the HEPA filter. By using pre-filters this will effectively extend the life of the HEPA filter, and ultimately will reduce operating costs too. A good quality HEPA vacuum cleaner should have three or four levels of prefilters.

HEPA Vacuums in Use

Today, HEPA vacuum cleaners are used across several industries in environments where the inhalation of microscopic particles can present a health risk. A HEPA vacuum is essential if your business needs to recover and trap small particles so that they are permanently removed from the room. HEPA vacuums are used in industries anywhere from food production to biotechnology.

HEPA vacuum cleaners serve an essential purpose to remove debris and control the build-up of harmful contaminants. Overall, HEPA filters ensure that harmful particles are not released back into the air to be breathed in and affect the respiratory system. At Depureco we have a range of HEPA vacuums available for industrial and commercial cleaning. We are one of the largest suppliers in the West Midlands, based at Haybrook Industrial Estate, Unit C4, Halesfield 9, Telford, West Midlands, TF7 4QW. It's becoming more and more common for businesses to open 24 hours a day. From restaurants to supermarkets, there are lots of businesses that have found it makes good sense to never close, and this means they can target customers such as last-minute shoppers and shift workers who might not otherwise spend their money with them. However, running a 24 hour business has many challenges, and one of them is keeping the premises clean. If you never close, when can you do a deep clean? Here are a few tips for maintaining cleanliness levels in a non-stop environment.

Get the right equipment

When a cleaning job needs to be done quickly and efficiently, then having the right equipment is essential. If your business is a 24 hour one, then you'll only have small windows of time to do the cleaning, so should choose wisely. Opt for an industrial vacuum cleaner that'll pick up dirt and debris easily, and can handle a commercial environment. Also, in a 24 hour business, your equipment needs to be sturdy enough to be operated several times a day, and a vacuum made for industrial use is ideal.

Work out your quietest times

Although your businesses may be open all hours, there will be certain times when there is a lull, which is the perfect time to clean. When running a 24/7 business , everything needs to be carefully planned, but you should also leave flexibility in case there's an unexpected rush.

Some particularly quiet times might be:

  • During school hours
  • In food service environments, in-between usual meal times
  • Sunday and bank holidays
  • The summer months

Once you've identified a couple of quiet periods during the day, you can get someone to use their time to give the place a quick clean or use a high efficiency vacuum to get the floors looking good. You can then schedule deeper cleaning on days such as Sunday, which are quieter for the majority of businesses. Some 24 hour businesses still close at 4pm on Sunday, re-opening first thing Monday morning, which gives you a window of time to do the jobs that can't be done around customers.

Work around customers, safely

If customers are always going to be around, then it's important you learn to clean around them, without compromising safety. For example, if you need to clean the floor, you could close sections as you clean, putting up wet floor signs to ensure people are aware. Some industrial cleaning machines are designed to draw in as much waste water as possible while they clean, which means the floor dries quicker and sections won't need to be closed as long.

To find cleaning solutions that suit busy, 24 hour businesses, contact Depureco who are based on Haybrook Industrial Estate, Unit C4, Halesfield 9, Telford, West Midlands, TF7 4QW. Supplying industrial cleaning equipment across the UK, you can simply call them on 01952 588 881 to get expert advice.

Business owners and managers barely get a chance to breathe when they're under pressure at work, but workplace hygiene and cleanliness can't be neglected. Unfortunately, cleaning the floors in a large setting, such as a warehouse or a shopping centre, can be challenging and time-consuming, especially if your cleaning department has to sweep and scrub the floors manually.

Covering thousands of square feet of floor space with a mop and a brush takes hours and exhausts employees, but they can finish the task without expelling too much energy quickly by using an industrial vacuum cleaner.

At Depureco, we know that cleaning is the last thing you want to think about as a business owner, but you can't afford to let your hygiene standards drop due to neglect. Floors deal with lots of foot traffic daily, and the germs that come in from outside can soon be transferred to surfaces.

We provide a broad range of industrial vacuum cleaners across the UK, and because of our location in Telford, we're the go-to provider of commercial cleaning equipment in the West Midlands. Here's how our technologically advanced product offering can help you stay on top of floor maintenance.

Does My West Midlands Business Need Industrial Vacuum Cleaners?

We offer both ride on and push-along vacuum cleaners in a range of sizes, but they're all manufactured by some of the most well-known names in the industry. Plus, our products are HEPA approved and ATEX certified, meaning they've been proven to trap airborne particles effectively and are mechanically safe and sound. Because of these features, all businesses in Telford and the West Midlands could benefit from sweeper vacuums in the following ways:

·         The Most Efficient Way to Clean Floors
You might have a lot of floor space to clean at your workplace, meaning using a mop and brush will likely take hours. Alternatively, you could finish the job in a matter of minutes using a ride on industrial vacuum cleaner.

·         Make Life Easier for Your Cleaning Staff
There's no reason to have exhausted cleaning employees when you could let them use the latest sweeper vacuums. Your staff may have time to focus on other tasks during their shifts if they can clean the floors thoroughly and quickly.

·         Save Money in the Long Run
Employing a team of cleaning staff to clean the floors with brushes and brooms would be expensive over the long term, but you only need one employee to power a ride on vacuum cleaner that's capable of covering 67,000 square feet of floor space per hour.

·         No Need to Replace Cleaning Equipment
Last but not least, you won't have to worry about replacing mops and brushes every few months if you have a durable machine that's guaranteed to survive for years with little-required upkeep.

As a restaurant owner, you have a duty to keep the place clean and hygienic for the sake of your customers' health, and you also have a legal obligation to comply with the minimum required standards of cleanliness. However, even putting the law and hygiene aside, you should keep the place looking pristine to entice customers through your doors.

Kitchens and restaurants can be breeding grounds for several types of bacteria that cause infections in humans, and just giving the floors a quick brush and rinse won't get rid of the problem. Because germs cause illness and can contaminate fresh food, you need to take cleaning seriously, and the floors shouldn't go unnoticed.

At Depureco, we're well aware of the risks associated with dirty restaurant floors, but we're here to tell you that there needn't be a problem if you invest in industrial vacuum cleaners. It can take less than an hour to clean your floors thoroughly with the latest models of sweepers, and thanks to our location in Telford, we can deliver products to any location in the West Midlands quickly.

How Do I Clean My Restaurant Floors?

As mentioned above, it takes more than a quick sweep to decontaminate a restaurant or commercial kitchen floor, but it doesn't have to take much time if you utilise the latest industrial vacuum cleaners.

·         Sweeper Vacuum

The first step towards ridding your floors of germs is to use a sweeper, which can effectively remove dust and debris without too much effort on your behalf. Thanks to being able to reach speeds of up to three miles per hour, sweepers can cover a vast area quickly, and the batteries can last for up to three hours without needing a recharge.

If your restaurant boasts a lot of floor space, you might consider purchasing a ride on sweeper vacuum, allowing you to remain comfortable as you eliminate the clutter from your floor in no time at all.

·         Floor Scrubber

After your floors have been swept and you want to finish the job, you should use an industrial scrubber to give the floors a wash. Some of our best-selling scrubbers can cover 26,000 square feet per hour, and if you have a particularly large restaurant, we have ride on versions available. Alternatively, if you need to duck and dive under shelving units, you might be better off purchasing a walk-behind machine.

·         The Best of Both Worlds

If you'd rather kill two birds with one stone, you may be interested in our combination models, which boast all the features found on scrubbers and sweepers. With one machine, you could thoroughly clean up to 67,000 square feet of floor space per hour, allowing you to maintain the highest hygiene standards with minimal effort.

West Midland shopping centres are busy every day, and all that foot traffic from eager shoppers takes its toll on the floors. Unfortunately, cleaning the floors thoroughly by hand is next to impossible due to the amount of work involved, but with a few industrial vacuum cleaners, you could have your entire shopping centre cleaned in under an hour.

The latest machines can cover up to 67,000 square feet per hour, and our combo models can effectively sweep, brush, scrub and dry your floors to eliminate up to 99.7 percent of bacteria and airborne contaminants.

At Depureco, we know how difficult it can be to maintain a large shopping complex, which is why we provide the latest and best industrial vacuum cleaners in the West Midlands and beyond. Located on the Haybrook Industrial Estate, we're just a ten-minute drive from Telford's town centre, and we're less than an hour from some of Birmingham's largest complexes, such as the Bullring and Churchill Shopping Centre.

Below, we explain some of the tangible benefits you'll soon realise after adding a few industrial vacuum cleaners to your cleaning department.

How Can West Midland Shopping Centres Benefit from Sweeper Vacuums?

From ride on industrial vacuum cleaners to push-along scrubbers, we have it all here at Depureco. However, if you're wondering why they're a worthwhile investment, you need to be aware of their advantages.

·         Entice Customers through Your Doors

People don't want to walk around a shopping centre that's littered in clutter and dust. Plus, the West Midlands is far from short of large shopping complexes, so customers will head to your competitors if your hygiene levels are not up to their standards. You can ensure your floors retain their shine by using industrial vacuum cleaners regularly, and you can feel confident that visitors will notice your attention to detail.

·         Create a Safe Environment for the Public

You may be held responsible for any accidents that happen on your premises, meaning you need to go to great lengths to ensure the place is hazard-free. Clutter and loose debris can cause trips, falls and injuries, and the last thing you need is to pay compensation for something that could've been prevented. Our sweepers won't just clear your floor space – they'll also eliminate bacteria and trap airborne contaminants, allowing you to maintain a safe and hygienic shopping centre with minimal effort.

·         Extend Your Floors' Lifespan

Eventually, it’s likely that you'll need to replace your floors, but there's no reason for that to happen any sooner than necessary if you maintain them to the highest standards using industrial vacuum cleaners. You could save thousands in the long run by keeping your floors in pristine condition.

We Have High-Quality Sweeper Vacuums for All West Midland Shopping Centres

At Depureco, our mission is to help commercial business owners keep their premises in good shape by ensuring the floors remain immaculate, so contact us today on 01952 588 881 to find out how we can help you. Alternatively, come and inspect our machines in person at the Haybrook Industrial Estate, Telford, West Midlands, TF7 4QW.

Hospitals in the West Midlands and across the UK are under more pressure than ever thanks to having too few resources to deal with a growing number of patients. The medical industry certainly felt the adverse effects of the economic squeeze following the global crisis, and now, waiting times are through the roof, and conditions inside hospitals are worsening.

Unfortunately, regardless of the obstacles you need to overcome, you still need to put hygiene and safety at the core of all your operations. Preventing the spread of bacteria and pathogens in a place occupied by poorly patients is challenging, but it turns out your floors might present a bigger risk than you previously thought.

Studies have shown that germs on floors can move to high surfaces rapidly, and many healthcare employees could transfer such germs to other hospital areas unwittingly. The best way to prevent such a situation from occurring is to clean the floors thoroughly and ensure they don’t provide optimal conditions for bacteria growth.

At Depureco, we have an extensive range of the latest industrial cleaners for hospital settings, and even though we’re headquartered in Telford, we can deliver our products to any part of the UK. Thanks to our location on the Haybrook Industrial Estate in the south of Telford, we can serve areas such as Kemberton and Madeley promptly and efficiently. Keep reading below to learn more about which industrial vacuum cleaners can help you.

Eliminate the Dangerous Pathogens on Your West Midlands Hospital Floors

Badly maintained hospital floors can be contaminated with pathogens such as VRE and Staphylococcus Aureus. Such pathogens can be spread easily by patients and staff, making the regular use of industrial vacuum cleaners a necessity. We'd suggest possessing the following:

·         Industrial Floor Sweepers

You can use a floor sweeper to clear just about all the dirt and loose clutter from your hospital floors, and they're easy for employees to manoeuvre. Moreover, you could opt for a ride on sweeper that makes cleaning a breeze, allowing workers to remain comfortable on the job.

·         Floor Scrubber Drying Machine

If you'd like something that dusts and washes your floors in the process of vacuuming them, then you need an industrial floor scrubber. Again, ride on versions are available for optimum comfort, and there’s a broad range of products for you to choose from.

·         Critical Filter Vacuum

You need a critical filter vacuum to safely collect hazardous contaminants such as mould, asbestos, lead, mercury, and even nuclear waste. There's no reason to put your staff or patients at risk if you ensure all bacteria and dangerous contaminants are eliminated.
